M07
Machining center, LatheMist coolant ON (number and meaning differ by machine)
Format and notes
M07 (stop with M09)
- In the LinuxCNC and NIST language specifications, M07 is mist (coolant sprayed as a fine mist), M08 is flood (coolant applied in large volume), and M09 stops both
- M07 on Haas machining centers is shower coolant (an option that pours coolant from above), not mist. Oil mist extraction (mist condenser) is M158 and M159, a separate matter
- M07 is a number assigned by the machine builder, and many machines do not have it. The M-code table in the MHLW lathe training material has only M08 and M09, and CAM makers' generic FANUC post-processors do not assign a number to mist either
- When outputting from CAM, check that the post-processor's coolant assignments match your machine (the Okuma post-processor outputs M07 as mist)
Most M codes are assigned by the machine builder (the Siemens ISO dialect manual leaves M00–M89 to the machine tool maker). The same number can mean different things on different machines, so always check your machine’s manual.

Differences between controls and machines
The same code can be written or assigned differently depending on the CNC control and the machine builder. Always check your machine’s manual.
“One source / reference” rows were confirmed in only one source. “CAM post output / reference” rows show what a CAM post processor outputs and could not be confirmed in the control maker’s own public documents.
| Source | Machine | Item | Detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| LinuxCNC | — | Meaning | M7 mist, M8 flood, M9 both OFF |
| NIST | Machining center | Meaning | M07 mist, M08 flood, M09 both OFF |
| Haas | Machining center | Meaning | Shower coolant ON (option). Stops with M09, and stops and resumes automatically before and after a tool change |
| CAM post for Okuma (Autodesk) | Machining center | Meaning | The Okuma post-processor outputs M07 as mistCAM post output / reference |
| MHLW (Japan) training text | Lathe | Availability | The M-code table has only M08 and M09 (no M07) |
| CAM post for FANUC (Autodesk) | Machining center | Availability | The generic FANUC post-processor does not assign an M-code to mistCAM post output / reference |
