MACHINE BUILDERS × CAMMachine tool builders × CAD/CAM

When you buy a machine, you need a post (the conversion into the way that machine’s NC programs are written) and a model that reproduces the machine’s motion. For 22 machine tool builders, we checked officially announced CAM partnerships, certified post-processors, and machine models, along with each company’s own conversational programming and digital twin, on the official pages of both the machine builder and the CAM vendor.

A blank cell in the table means “no official information found,” not “cannot be used.”Most CAM systems can support almost any machine with generic posts or posts made by resellers. We say “good match” only for official partnerships, certifications, and bundling.

The Fusion counts come from counting Autodesk’s public library (posts and machine models) by builder name on 2026-10-14. The number shown in the list can differ from the total in the library.

⇄Who makes the posts?

CAM vendors

  • Autodesk Fusion: distributes generic posts in a free library (for Fusion, HSMWorks, and Inventor CAM only). They do not necessarily fit as is, so always test a new post carefully. For fine adjustments, it advises consulting a local resellerOne source / reference[2]
  • Mastercam: a library of over 3,400 posts (Mill, Lathe, Mill-Turn, Swiss, Router, Wire). Custom posts were strengthened by the acquisition of Postability and are requested through regional Mastercam resellersOne source / reference[1]
  • hyperMILL: OPEN MIND itself creates posts matched to the machine and control (from a neutral toolpath, it outputs NC that makes use of the control’s cycles, compensation, tilted planes, and so on)One source / reference[4]
  • NX CAM: Post Hub (free for NX users). Over 1,100 posts in 2020 and over 1,300 in 2023. All posts are built with Post Configurator and can be adjusted. Smart Machine Kit, which includes machine models, requires a paid licenseOne source / reference[6][7][8][9]
  • ESPRIT: bundles factory-certified posts and machine templates, made in cooperation with machine builders, model by modelOne source / reference[5][10][11][12]

Machine builder

  • DMG MORI: develops posts for its own machines and for other makers’ machines (taking the PLC and Technology Cycles into account), and DMG MORI Digital also makes the certified posts for NX[3][13]
  • CHIRON Group: bundles its own posts in ProcessLine (digital twin simulation)One source / reference[14]
  • Nakamura-Tome: a service in which the builder creates the machining program itself on your behalfOne source / reference[15]
  • Examples of machine builders also acting as CAM resellers: Matsuura (GibbsCAM, VERICUT), DMG MORI (ESPRIT EDGE, NX, hyperMILL, Mastercam; DMQP)[16][17][18][3]
  • Example of bundling posts with a machine purchase: DMG MORI Technium USA bundles a Mastercam post with the CMX 1100 V and NHX (2025-12, U.S.)One source / reference[19]

Post and simulation specialists

  • ICAM (Canada; posts, machine simulation, toolpath optimization) was acquired by Sandvik in 2021One source / reference[20]
  • CGTech (VERICUT) was acquired by Sandvik in 2020. Provides machine configurations (VMC) for major machine buildersOne source / reference[21][22]

About resellers in Japan: we could not find an official source supporting the claim that “in Japan, resellers often make the posts.” All we can say is that Fusion and Mastercam state on their own pages that they leave custom posts to regional resellers and distributors (see the CAM vendors item above), and that in Japan there are examples of machine builders selling CAM (Matsuura, DMG MORI)
