JAPAN & THE WORLDCAD/CAM in Japan and the world

“Which CAM is the most widely used in the world?” “Which vendors are strongest in each country?” We are asked this often, but we could not find free sources that publish market share (%) by country, for any country. So we have listed only what can be said from numbers that research firms published for free, plus company earnings reports and public-agency materials, each with whose number it is attached.

Every number comes with
“who counted what”

▮Size of the global CAM market (CIMdata)

Each year CIMdata publishes its “CAM (formerly NC) Market Analysis Report.” Only the announcements of market size and growth rate are free to read; company rankings are in the paid report. The figures are “end-user payments”: the amount users paid for software and related services. About one-third is reseller revenue and about two-thirds goes directly to the software companies (the 2026 edition says “a little under one-third / a little over two-thirds”).
