2. 5-Axis Machining Centers, Multitasking & Lathe Premieres (Illustrated)

Across the machine tool halls (East 1–3, East 7–8, South 1–2), the clearest trend is combining 5-axis horizontal machining centers with mill-turn spindles, alongside integrating gear skiving, grinding, and additive manufacturing into single-setup multitasking platforms. The illustrations below show how five machines collapse into one chucking.

Next-generation 5-axis multitasking machining center with tilting B-axis spindle, turning chuck, and robotic loader

Conventional flow (1–5)

Every machine change means transport, setup and re-chucking — the more steps, the more work-in-progress and waiting.

3. Physical AI CNC, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) & Coolant DX (Unmanned Cell)

Whereas JIMTOF 2024 focused on cobots loading and unloading parts, JIMTOF 2026 moves toward AI-native CNCs and automating everything around the spindle: chip disposal, coolant maintenance, and multi-machine scheduling.

For water-soluble coolant concentration control (Brix refractometer reading) and thermal growth management, see Coolant Management & Maintenance Guide and Thermal Expansion Calculator.

4. Cutting Tools & Tooling: Serrated Grooving, Damped Holders & Carbide Recycling (Illustrated)

In West Halls 1–4, cutting tool and toolholder exhibitors address two urgent shop-floor realities: record-high tungsten (APT) raw material costs and the need for foolproof chip control and chatter suppression during unattended machining.
