C3604

ISO N (non-ferrous)

Copper and copper alloy rods and bars (free-cutting brass; BD = drawn, BE = extruded; formerly Free-Cutting Brass Type 2, old symbol BsBM2). Standard: JIS H 3250 (JIS H 3250:2021).

🌐International equivalents

“Close” means composition or properties are not exactly the same. Before substituting, check the values in each standard.

Differences between the equivalents (from the sources)
  • ASTM/UNS C36000: C36000 is Cu 60.0–63.0, Pb 2.5–3.0, Fe ≤0.35, Zn balance (CDA). The lower limit of Cu is higher and the Pb range narrower than C3604. Pb 3.1–3.7 is a separate number, C36010
  • EN CuZn39Pb3: Cu 57.0–59.0, Pb 2.5–3.5, Fe ≤0.3, Ni ≤0.3, Sn ≤0.3, Al ≤0.05, etc. (Ningbo Jintian table; Wieland and Diehl give nominal values only). The range lies within C3604 (on the low-Cu side). Wieland matches CW614N to UNS C38500 and C36000 to CW603N (CuZn36Pb3)
  • GB HPb60-3: HPb60-3: Cu 58.0–61.0, Pb 2.5–3.5, Fe ≤0.3, Sn ≤0.3. HPb58-3: Cu 57.0–59.0, Pb 2.5–3.5 (Ningbo Jintian table; the table does not say which GB standard the values come from). The range of the often-cited HPb59-3 could not be confirmed in primary sources
