✈Main aerospace uses (as stated in the sources)
- Suited to plate and forgings; example applications are aircraft and high-speed rotating bodies (Japan Aluminium Association)[1]
- Die forgings and large forged bars for aircraft. An alloy designed for structural parts subject to high fatigue stress and the risk of corrosion (Aubert & Duval)[10]
- In fuselage built-up structures, 7050, 7150 and 7055 have recently been used as high-strength stiffeners reinforcing the skin (2024-T3). A study of Boeing's integrally stiffened fuselage panels evaluated 7050-T7451 plate and 7050-T74511 extrusions (NASA-sponsored report)[24][25]
- Aircraft applications such as fuselage frames and bulkheads (thyssenkrupp Materials North America material)[26]
