ISO P (steel)Maraging steel (Co-strengthened 18Ni). Grade 250 is UNS K92890. Number: UNS K93120. Standard: AMS 6514 (bar and forgings), MIL-S-46850. Grade 250 is AMS 6512. ASTM A579/A579M (Grades 71–75 are maraging steels) was withdrawn in 2024.
🌐JIS and international equivalents
“Close” means composition or properties are not exactly the same. Before substituting, check the values in each standard.

Differences between the equivalents (from the sources)
- JIS : No maraging steel grade was found in JIS. In Japan it is sold under tool steel manufacturers' trade names, but trade names are not used as designations
- DIN/EN (aerospace WL) WL 1.6354: Böhler V300 shows the material number 1.6354 (SEL). DIN Media has a page for the aerospace material standard WL 1.6354 (1981-03), and the nominal composition in its title is close to grade 300. The EN designation X2NiCoMoTi18-9-5 was seen only in powder maker materials for additive manufacturing and has not been confirmed in primary sources. For grade 250, Böhler V250 shows 1.6359 / X2NiCoMo18-8-5 (EN) (one company only)
- GB : No corresponding Chinese designation was found in primary sources

Specifications called up on purchase orders and drawings. AMS are SAE aerospace material specifications, split by product form (bar, plate, forging), melting practice and heat treatment. Standard texts are paid, so only titles and scopes checked on the publishers’ public pages are shown.

✈Main aerospace uses (as stated in the sources)
- Missile and rocket motor cases, wind tunnel models, actuators, landing gear parts, high-performance shafts, gears and fasteners (ATI)[6]
- Missiles and launch equipment, slat tracks and drive shafts (Liberty)[3]
- High-stress parts in the aircraft and rocket industries. Parts that are through-hardened without quenching and may be welded during fabrication (Böhler V300 and V250)[2][7]

🔧Machinability notes (as stated in the sources)
- The solution annealed as-delivered condition is tough and relatively soft (stated as HRC 28–32 / 30–35), so it is easy to machine and form. After machining it is hardened by a low-temperature aging treatment. No protective atmosphere is needed, and the dimensional change on aging is uniform in all directions and predictable (ATI)[6]
- Easy to machine before aging (Liberty; supplied as solution annealed bar for machining)[3]
