A2618
ISO N (non-ferrous)Aluminum alloy (heat-treatable Al-Cu-Mg-Ni, 2000 series heat-resistant forging alloy). The JIS standard that covers it has not been confirmed.
🌐International equivalents
“Close” means composition or properties are not exactly the same. Before substituting, check the values in each standard.
| System | Designation | Number | Relation | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JIS | A2618 | — | ||
| AA | 2618 | UNS A92618 | identical (internationally registered alloy) | Agrees in 2+ sources[5][8][9] |
| EN | EN AW-2618Achemical symbol AlCu2Mg1,5Ni | EN AW-2618A | close (2618A is a European Aluminium Association registration whose ranges differ slightly from 2618: Fe 0.9-1.4, Cu 1.8-2.7, Mg 1.2-1.8, Ni 0.8-1.4, Mn ≤0.25, Zn ≤0.15, Ti ≤0.20, etc.) | Agrees in 2+ sources[5][10] |

Differences between the equivalents (from the sources)
- EN EN AW-2618A: OTTO FUCHS lists AN40 (AlCu2Mg1,5Ni) as "2618/2618 A" for both EN AW and AA, and also gives the French designation A-U 2 GN
📄Related specifications (AMS, ASTM etc.)
Specifications called up on purchase orders and drawings. AMS are SAE aerospace material specifications, split by product form (bar, plate, forging), melting practice and heat treatment. Standard texts are paid, so only titles and scopes checked on the publishers’ public pages are shown.

✈Main aerospace uses (as stated in the sources)
- The structural material CM001 of the supersonic airliner Concorde is a British RR58, developed for engine forgings, with changed composition ranges and processing conditions; the AA equivalent alloy is 2618 (NASA technical report)[12]
- AK4-1, the material of the Soviet supersonic airliner Tu-144, also has a composition close to 2618 (same source)[12]
