S50C

ISO P (steel)

Carbon steels for machine structural use. Standard: JIS G 4051 (JIS G 4051:2026).

🌐International equivalents

“Close” means composition or properties are not exactly the same. Before substituting, check the values in each standard.

Differences between the equivalents (from the sources)
  • AISI/SAE 1050: Nippon Steel's special steel strip catalog (U006) lists S50C and SAE1050 in the same row. The C of SAE1050 is 0.48–0.55 (same catalog), which differs from S50C (0.47–0.53). Kyocera's metal material designation comparison table matches S50C with AISI 1049 and S53C with 1050/1053, so the sources disagree. Saarstahl's C50E datasheet lists SAE 1049 and 1050 together. The UNS numbers are from the SAE standards table in Nippon Steel's "Bars and Wire Rods" catalog
  • EN C50E: Kyocera's comparison table lists C50, C50E and C50R in the S50C row. Saarstahl's C50E (1.1206) datasheet gives only typical composition (C 0.50, Si 0.25, Mn 0.75, S <0.03); the composition range in EN 10083-2 could not be obtained from primary sources. The material number of C50 (1.0540) could not be confirmed in primary sources and is not given
  • GB 50: From the GB column of Kyocera's comparison table only. GB-side composition could not be obtained from primary sources, so no comparison was made
