A5052
ISO N (non-ferrous)Aluminum alloy (non-heat-treatable Al-Mg, 5000 series). Standard: JIS H 4000 (sheets, plates and strips) / JIS H 4040 (rods, bars and wires) / JIS H 4100 (extruded shapes).
🌐International equivalents
“Close” means composition or properties are not exactly the same. Before substituting, check the values in each standard.

Differences between the equivalents (from the sources)
- EN EN AW-5052: The Japan Aluminium Association explains that "if the four digits are the same, as with JIS A5052 and EN AW-5052, the chemical composition is exactly the same". The chemical symbol AlMg2.5 is confirmed in the AA Teal Sheets cross-reference
⚗Chemical composition (mass %)
As specified in JIS (as stated in Kobe Steel and UACJ product literature). Same as AA Teal Sheets

🔧Machinability notes (as stated in the sources)
- AA comparative ratings (five grades, A-E): 5052-H32 = D, 5052-H34 = C, 5052-O = D[13]
- Sandvik Coromant says that the closer a material is to pure aluminum, the gummier it is, and the sharper the cutting edge and higher the cutting speed that are needed[3]
- Medium strength with good corrosion resistance, weldability and formability, and high fatigue strength (Japan Aluminium Association, UACJ; this is not a statement about machinability)[14][2]
