A7475
ISO N (non-ferrous)Aluminum alloy (heat-treatable Al-Zn-Mg-Cu, 7000 series. A high-purity version of 7075 with reduced Fe and Si and improved fracture toughness). The JIS standard that covers it has not been confirmed.
🌐International equivalents
“Close” means composition or properties are not exactly the same. Before substituting, check the values in each standard.
| System | Designation | Number | Relation | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JIS | A7475 | — | ||
| AA | 7475 | UNS A97475 | identical (internationally registered alloy) | One source / reference[5][10][11] |
| EN | EN AW-7475ISO chemical symbol AlZn5.5MgCu(A) | EN AW-7475 | identical (internationally registered alloy) | Agrees in 2+ sources[12][13] |
| GB | — | — | Not confirmed |
Differences between the equivalents (from the sources)
- AA 7475: The alloy number 7475 is confirmed in AA Teal Sheets, AMS and the Japan Aluminium Association (equivalent to high confidence). However, no public page naming UNS number A97475 was found; it was inferred from ASTM B209M's explanation that "UNS numbers are the alloy number preceded by A9", so the whole row is rated medium
- EN EN AW-7475: OTTO FUCHS's table writes the chemical symbol as AlZn5,5MgCu (same as 7075), without (A)
📄Related specifications (AMS, ASTM etc.)
Specifications called up on purchase orders and drawings. AMS are SAE aerospace material specifications, split by product form (bar, plate, forging), melting practice and heat treatment. Standard texts are paid, so only titles and scopes checked on the publishers’ public pages are shown.

✈Main aerospace uses (as stated in the sources)
- A high-purity version of 7075 with improved fracture toughness, which shows superplasticity with special thermomechanical processing. Example application is aircraft (Japan Aluminium Association)[1]
- In a study of Boeing's integrally stiffened fuselage panels (skin and stiffeners machined from plate), it was considered the leading candidate for combining strength and fail-safe fracture performance. Z-stiffened 7475-T7351 integral panels were designed and evaluated (NASA-sponsored report)[16][17]
